On July 14th the Joan Manén Association will inaugurate the 1st cycle of conferences “Intèrprets Catalans Històrics”. The purpose of this cycle is to disseminate the project dedicated to recovering the memory of the most important Catalan interpreters from the past developed by the entity from 2021 through the website www.interpretscatalanshistorics.com. This website is possible thanks to a great number of people and institutions that have collaborated in developing exhaustive research projects of each interpreter
The 1st cycle will include three conferences that will take place between July and November at the MUHBA Vil·la Joana, at the Institute of Nord-American Studies and at the Biblioteca de Catalunya. The first one will take place in Vil·la Joana on July 14 at 7:00 p.m., entitled “Manuel Utor, de Musclaire al Liceu. Història d'un tenor i un temps”, will be hosted by Miquel Pérez García, coordinator and editor of the Singer section of the Intèrprets Catalans Històrics project. This first conference will deal with one of the most charismatic and mythical figures in the history of singing in Catalonia, the tenor Manuel Utor. Miquel Pérez, writer of the first rigorous biography of this artist, will offer a very attractive conference that will delve into the fascinating trajectory of El Musclaire.
