Last Monday, October 24th, the Joan Manén Association signed an agreement with the Reus Concert Association in which they agreed to programme concerts in the "Els teus clàssics" series in Reus.
The main objective of the Joan Manén Association is to recover and disseminate the Catalan musical heritage throughout the territory by means of concerts that include works by Catalan composers performed by quality musicians, mostly from Catalonia. The cycle of concerts "Els teus clàssics" that the association organises every year in Barcelona is one of the main projects of the organisation to enhance the value of this heritage. In order to expand this task, the Joan Manén Association has decided to co-organise concerts with various important Catalan musical entities that regularly organise a regular season of concerts. With the agreement signed last Monday, the Associació de Concerts de Reus is involved in this project by programming in its regular season some of the concerts in co-production with the Associació Joan Manén, which will also form part of the concert series "Els teus clàssics" (Your Classics).
Catalonia has a rich musical heritage that is often completely unknown to the public and to the performers. With this project 'Els teu clàssics a Catalunya', the Associació Joan Manén and the Associació de Concerts de Reus want to give a new impulse to the dissemination of the music of Catalan composers by enriching their programmes and making a step forward so that the public can fully know and enjoy the music of their country through quality performances.
The Associació de Concerts de Reus is one of the historical musical entities of Catalonia. In 2021 the association celebrated its centenary. Throughout its history, the Association has carried out a high quality programme bringing to the city some of the most important artists of the musical panorama, among them Arthur Rubinstein, Montserrat Caballé, Rosa Sabater, Gaspar Cassadó, Antoni Sala, Narciso Yepes, Clara Haskil, Edouard Risler, Wanda Landowska and Francesc Costa.
